“Stoperan suppresses excessive intestinal motility and increases water absorption. As a result, it slows the passage of food through the intestines, reduces the frequency and number of bowel movements and, by causing water to be reabsorbed in the colon, changes the consistency of stool. The onset of action of loperamide occurs 1-3 hours after administration.
Stoperan capsules are intended for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.
What are the indications for the use of Stoperan?
Stoperan is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea.
Active ingredient: Loperamidium hydrochloride.
Composition of Stoperan tablets
The active ingredient of the drug is loperamide hydrochloride (Loperamidi Hydrochloridum) 2 mg.
Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate, gelatin capsule composition: gelatin, erythrosine (E 127), patent blue (E 131), titanium dioxide (E 171), quinoline yellow (E 104).
How to dose Stoperan in capsules?
Adults and children over 12 years of age:
Acute diarrhea: first dose 2 capsules (4 mg), then 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Do not take more than 8 capsules (16 mg) per day.
Chronic diarrhea: initially 1 capsule (2 mg) 2 times a day, if necessary, the dose can be increased to 4-6 capsules (8-12 mg) per day.
Children from 9 to 12 years old:
Acute diarrhea: 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Do not take more than 3 capsules (6 mg) per day.
Chronic diarrhea: 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Do not take more than 3 capsules (6 mg) per day.
Children aged 6 to 8 years:
Acute diarrhea: 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Do not take more than 3 capsules (6 mg) per day.
Chronic diarrhea: 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Do not take more than 2 capsules (4 mg) per day.
Stoperan should be taken orally.
There is no need to change the dosage in patients with renal impairment or in elderly patients.
Diarrhea may disappear after one dose. Then you should no longer use the medicine.

When should you not take Stoperan?
if you are allergic to loperamide or any other ingredient of this medicine,
in conditions where it is undesirable to slow down intestinal motility due to the possible risk of developing severe complications, including intestinal obstruction, megacolon and toxic megacolon, the use of Stoperan should be stopped immediately if constipation, bloating or intestinal obstruction occurs;
with intestinal obstruction, acute ulcerative colitis, acute episode of hemorrhagic colitis, pseudomembranous colitis, especially associated with the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics,
for bacterial inflammation of the small and large intestines caused by pathogenic bacteria of the genus Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter,
