Indications: Aspirin Cardio is indicated for use in adults with the following diseases of the cardiovascular system: unstable coronary heart disease; in case of a recent heart attack or suspected recent heart attack; prevent another heart attack; in the prevention of thromboembolic complications after surgical or vascular interventional procedures (for example, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), carotid endarterectomy, arteriovenous bypass grafting); in the prevention of transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and ischemic stroke in patients with TIA; to prevent a first heart attack in patients with multiple risk factors; in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients undergoing prolonged immobilization, for example after major surgery, as an addition to other methods of prevention.
Action: acetylsalicylic acid, the active substance contained in Aspirin Cardio, when taken in small doses for a long time suppresses platelet aggregation (sticking together). Due to this, it plays an important role in preventing the formation of blood clots.
Dosage: the recommended dose is: for unstable coronary heart disease: 1 tablet once a day; in case of a recent heart attack or suspected recent heart attack – 2 – 3 tablets once a day, the tablets should be chewed to ensure rapid absorption; for the prevention of recurrent heart attack: 1 tablet once a day; to prevent thromboembolic complications after surgical or vascular interventional procedures (eg, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), carotid endarterectomy, arteriovenous bypass): 1 tablet once daily; for the prevention of transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and ischemic stroke in patients with TIA: 1 tablet 1 time per day; to prevent a first heart attack in patients with multiple risk factors: 1 tablet once a day; for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients immobilized for a long time, for example after major surgery, as an addition to other methods of prevention: 1-2 tablets once a day. The tablets should be taken orally whole, preferably at least 30 minutes before meals, with plenty of water. When treating a heart attack, the film-coated tablet should be crushed or chewed and swallowed. If you feel that the medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Contraindications: do not use Aspirin Cardio: if the patient is allergic (hypersensitivity) to the active substance – acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any of the other ingredients of the drug; if you have a bleeding disorder; if you have an acute stomach and/or duodenal ulcer; if you have severe kidney failure; if you have severe liver failure; if you suffer from severe heart failure, if you have had attacks of bronchial asthma in the past caused by taking salicylates or substances with similar effects, especially non-al anti-inflammatory drugs; simultaneously with methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or higher; in the last trimester of pregnancy; in children under 12 years of age with viral infections due to the risk of developing Reye’s syndrome, a rare but serious disease that causes damage to the liver and brain.”
