Gilbert Laboratories’ medical alcohol-impregnated compresses are indicated for the antisepsis of small, superficial and non-extensive wounds, as well as for preparing the skin before an injection or puncture. They are packaged in individual sachets to guarantee their sterility and are impregnated with 2.5 ml of modified 70° alcohol. They measure 135 mm by 165 mm. The excipients with known effects are synthetic camphor and tartrazine (E102).
Use of Gilbert impregnated compresses
Simply remove the compress from the sachet and apply it to the area to be treated. Do not put it on mucous membranes or eyes or under an occlusive dressing or on damaged skin (irritant).
Precautions for use of Gilbert alcohol-impregnated compresses
These medical alcohol compresses contain terpene derivatives (camphor), which is why they should not be used in children under 30 months and in adults with a history of seizures.
In pregnant or breastfeeding women, this medication should be used with caution. Breastfeeding women: it is preferable not to use these compresses and they should never be applied to the breasts.
Tartrazine may cause allergic reactions.
