Magne B6 is an over-the-counter medication containing magnesium lactate and vitamin B6. Magne B6 is used to supplement magnesium deficiencies that may occur in the case of: insufficient supply of the element, as a result of intense exercise, chronic stress, lack of adequate sleep. Magnesium deficiency can manifest itself in a number of symptoms related to the muscular system (eyelid twitching, muscle spasms, gastrointestinal cramps) or the nervous system (anxiety, mild anxiety, irritability, mood swings).
Composition
The active substances are magnesium lactate dihydrate (Magnesii lactas dihydricus) and pyridoxine hydrochloride (Pyridoxini hydrochloridum).
Each film-coated tablet contains 48 mg of magnesium ions and 5 mg of pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6).
Excipients: sucrose, heavy kaolin, gum arabic, carboxypolymethylene 934, talc, magnesium stearate. The composition of the shell: gum arabic, sucrose, titanium dioxide, talc, carnauba wax.
Dosage
Always use Magne B6 exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are not sure.
Therapeutic use in adults from 6 to 8 tablets a day (in 2-3 divided doses).
Magne B6 can also be used in children over 6 years of age (when the body weight is about 20 kg or more) – from 4 to 6 tablets a day (in 2-3 divided doses).
Magne B6 tablets should be taken with meals and washed down with water.
Action
Magne B6 supplements the deficiencies of magnesium and vitamin B6 in the body. Magnesium is necessary for the proper course of many biochemical processes in the body, affects the state of neuromuscular excitability, and plays an important role in the process of heart muscle contraction. Vitamin B6 increases the absorption of magnesium from the gastrointestinal tract.
Indications
Magne B6 is used to supplement magnesium deficiencies – they can be manifested by:
- nervousness, irritability, mood swings, mild anxiety, restlessness, transient fatigue, lethargy, mild sleep disturbance;
- anxiety symptoms such as gastrointestinal cramps or palpitations (without heart problems);
- muscle spasms, tingling, eyelid twitching.
Taking Magne B6 may alleviate the above symptoms if they are due to a magnesium deficiency.
In the case of no improvement after a month of using the drug, further use of the drug is not justified.
Contraindications
Magne B6 should not be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. The drug should also not be taken by patients with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml / min) and when the patient is being treated with levodopa.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Magne B6 can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
With frequency unknown, the following are observed: hypersensitivity, diarrhea, abdominal pain, skin reactions including urticaria, itching, eczema, erythema.
Warnings and Precautions
Particular care should be taken in patients with moderate renal insufficiency due to the risk of high levels of magnesium in the blood.
Long-term use of pyridoxine (several months or even years) may cause axonal sensory neuropathy (numbness and impaired sense of position, vibrations in the distal parts of the limbs, impaired coordination).
The drug contains sucrose, patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicinal product
Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25 ° C. Protect from light.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, or have recently taken, and about any medications you plan to use.
Magne B6 interacts with: levodopa (pyridoxine weakens its effect), phosphates or calcium salts (they reduce the absorption of magnesium), oral tetracyclines (magnesium reduces the absorption of tetracycline, keep a 3-hour interval).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
Magne B6 can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor who will prescribe the appropriate dose. While breastfeeding you should not take vitamin B6 doses higher than 20 mg a day.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Do not use in children under 6 years of age.
