“Thiocodin tablets are an antitussive drug. Thiocodin contains two active substances: codeine and sulfoguaiacol. The first one reduces the frequency of coughing, while the second one facilitates expectoration. The drug is used in dry, persistent cough without expectoration of secretions.
Composition
The active substances of the drug are: codeine phosphate hemihydrate (Codeini phosphas hemihydricus) and sulfoguaiacol (Sulfogaiacolum).
1 tablet contains 15 mg of codeine phosphate hemihydrate and 300 mg of sulfoguaiacol.
Excipients: talc, potato starch, magnesium stearate.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is taken orally, drinking the entire tablet with a glass of water during meals. During treatment, you should drink at least 2 liters of fluids a day, which will make it easier to expectorate mucus from the respiratory tract. The medicine can be used for a maximum of 3 days without consulting a doctor.
Thiocodin is not recommended for use in adolescents aged 12 to 18 years with respiratory problems for the treatment of cough.
The recommended dosage of Thiocodin for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 1 tablet 3 times a day, but with a break of at least 4-6 hours.
Action
Thiocodin cough tablets contain two active substances with complementary effects. Codeine inhibits the cough reflex, reducing the frequency of coughing attacks. Sulfaguaiacol has an expectorant effect, facilitating the movement of liquefied secretions in the respiratory tract and its expectoration.
Indications
Thiocodin is intended for the treatment of dry, persistent cough without expectoration of secretions.
Contraindications
A contraindication to the use of the drug is hypersensitivity to codeine, sulfaguaiacol or any of the ingredients. Do not use Thiocodin in people with: bronchial asthma, respiratory failure, coma, cystic fibrosis, dilated bronchi, alcohol or opioid addiction, very rapid metabolism of codeine to morphine, wet cough.”
