MIG® for children 20mg/ml – strawberry flavored suspension for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate fever and pain in children weighing from 5 kg (6 months) to 29 kg (9 years).
The active substance of the preparation is ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from the group of propionic acid derivatives. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. Ibuprofen prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances that play a significant role in the development of inflammation. Ibuprofen works by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenases (both COX-1 and COX-2). These enzymes are involved in the reactions leading to the formation of prostaglandins from the lipids of cell membranes. Ibuprofen reduces the symptoms of the inflammatory response (swelling, increased temperature, pain). It inhibits platelet aggregation (weaker and shorter than acetylsalicylic acid). It is not antimicrobial. After oral administration, ibuprofen is rapidly absorbed, partly in the stomach, mainly in the small intestine. The maximum concentration in the blood is obtained within 1-2 hours after administration. Ibuprofen and its metabolites cross the placenta and in small amounts are also excreted in breast milk.
