The active substance of the drug is naproxen ( Naproxen ).
1 g of the drug contains 100 mg of naproxen.
Excipients: chloral hydrate, levomenthol, ethanol 96%, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium hydroxide, carbomer, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Naproxen EMO is applied topically to the skin.
- Spread the gel on the pain site and massage until completely absorbed. Hands should be washed after using the medicinal product, unless the treatment is concerned.
- The medicinal product should not be covered with dressings such as bandages or plasters.
- The duration of treatment depends on the type of disease and the effectiveness of the treatment, usually not longer than a few weeks (most often up to 4 weeks).
- If pain and swelling do not improve or worsen after one week of using the medicinal product, consult a physician.
Adults and children over 3 years of age : apply the gel to the skin 4 to 5 times a day, at intervals of several hours. The dose depends on the area affected, most often a strip of gel approximately 4 cm long should be used.
Action
Naproxen Emo is effective against pain and inflammation.
Indications
Naproxen Emo is indicated for topical use in:
- muscle and joint pain,
Contraindications
Do not take Naproxen Emo :
- if you are allergic to naproxen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
- if you are allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including acetylsalicylic acid;
- if you have skin inflammation, skin damage or open wounds.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rare side effects (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000):
- local skin irritation (erythema, itching, burning sensation) which disappears after discontinuation of the medicinal product.
In the case of long-term use on large areas of the skin, side effects resulting from the general action of naproxen may occur (e.g. nausea, diarrhea, drowsiness, headaches, hypersensitivity reactions).
Warnings and Precautions
- During the treatment period and 2 weeks after the end of treatment, direct sunlight should be avoided (also in the solarium).
- The medicinal product should not be used on damaged skin, open wounds, inflammations of the skin, mucous membranes and eyes.
- If the gel gets into the eyes or on mucous membranes, remove the gel by rinsing thoroughly with water.
- The medicinal product should be used with caution in the event of a history of allergic reactions (rash, itching, redness) during treatment with drugs from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and when it is used on large areas of the skin for a long time, as there is a possibility of systemic adverse reactions.
- Due to the possibility of absorption of naproxen into the bloodstream, caution should be exercised in treating patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency, gastrointestinal ulceration and haemorrhagic diathesis.
- The product contains ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions (possible delayed reactions).
Storage:
- Store the drug at room temperature.
- Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the drugs you are taking or have recently taken, and about any drugs you plan to take, including those sold without a prescription.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy: The use of Naproxen Emo
gel is contraindicated during pregnancy, except in cases recommended and supervised by a doctor. The use of naproxen during pregnancy requires careful consideration of the potential benefits to the mother and the fetus, especially in the first and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Breast-feeding: Naproxen Emo
should not be used during breast-feeding.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Naproxen Emo should not be used in children under 3 years of age.
